Comment: Da Xue Teng and Ji Xue Teng (caulis spatholobi) are sometimes used interchangeably sometimes in China, as both herbs invigorate blood circulation, open channels, and relieve pain. The difference between the two is that Da Xue Teng treats intestinal abscess while Ji Xue Teng invigorates and tonifies the blood. While these two herbs do have some similarities they should not be confused or substituted casually for each other.
