Got gas?
你有煤气吗?
The term indigestion covers a wide variety of symptoms (heartburn, stomach-ache, nausea, flatulence and gas), all of which are usually caused by eating too much, eating too quickly, or eating rich, spicy or fatty foods. Persistent or recurrent indigestion is associated with peptic ulcers, gallstones, or esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus). Flatulence, also known by the earthier names passing wind or farting, is the expulsion of internal gas (flatus) through the anus. Gas is usually caused by the fermentation of food that is incompletely digested. The main culprits are heavily spiced foods, green vegetables, cucumbers, nuts, onions, garlic, and dried fruits. Flatulence can usually be prevented by eating a plain diet and exercising regularly. In addition to the below mentioned herbal remedies that provide fast relief from pressure, bloating and discomfort, traditional Chinese medicine also recommends other, rather unconventional remedies like chewing the seeds of mandarin oranges.
